Oh, This Is Going to Be Fun!

Our Local Yarn Shop is thrilled to present our Inaugural Knitting Retreat and invites you to join this intimate community of knitters and learners the weekend of March 27 – 29 for a deep dive into stranded colorwork knitting at the charming Resort at Port Ludlow.

Lisa Sweet will present a Stranded Colorwork focused program that will cover everything you need to know to create beautiful things with yarn. Begin with color theory, moving on to how to hold your yarn (both hands?), Color dominance and ladderback jacquard floats. Learn more about Lisa here.

Should I Attend? Well, of Course!

If you already know how to cast on, bind off, knit and purl those are the minimum skills required. If you’ve worked with circular needles, double-pointed needles, made increase and decrease stitches, if you can knit both continental and English style, those skills will be useful, but if you have not, we will help you learn these skills at the retreat.

·       If you’ve always wanted to learn stranded color (also called Fair Isle), but were intimidated and/or wanted to learn in a supportive environment, this retreat is for you!

·       If holding and knitting with two hands simultaneously is new to you (but you really want to learn stranded knitting), this is the perfect opportunity to learn;

·       Overwhelmed by making color decisions?  We’ll help you understand how to use color theory to make color-matching decisions knowledgeably and with confidence;

·       Already mastered stranded color?  Level up your skill set by learning ladderback jacquard!

·       Want to impress your family and friends with gorgeous colorful beanies lovingly handmade by you?   You are in the right place!

In short, this retreat is open to a wide range of knitting experience levels, and is designed to be a fun learning experience.  You don’t have to finish anything, you can work at your own pace, and there will be experienced help on hand to work with participants 1:1

The Inn

The Port Ludlow Inn is a 37 room boutique, waterfront inn inspired by New England’s classic coastal summer homes. Our accommodations include 35 guest rooms and two suites. In each of the beautifully appointed guest rooms, you will find numerous amenities including a fireplace and jetted tub. Most rooms provide spectacular water and mountain views and private balconies. The Inn features a waterfront award-winning restaurant, as well.
