Description
Join us for a few hours of dedicated crochet time. You’ll purchase a pattern that includes 8 adorable water creatures and we will make one together.
Prerequisites: This is not a class for beginning crocheters. Being able to single crochet, slip stitch, increase, and decrease with even tension and without instructor support is necessary. Knowing how to make a magic ring, how to do the bobble stitch, and how to change colors is recommended but not mandatory, and will affect how quickly you’ll be able to finish your project.
Homework: Purchase the pattern “Water Animals on Swing” by Jade Gauthier-Boutin (AllFromJade) You can buy this pattern through the yarn shop for a discount. We will use the instructions for the duck. You may want to print the entire pattern out at home or at the library, but at the very least, for class you will need pages 3, 8, and 14.
Please bring the following to class:*
-Your printed out pattern pages (see above)
-Worsted weight yarn**
-Crochet hook – size 3mm or 3.25mm is recommended. (Size 3.5mm, 3.75mm or 4mm might work, but also might allow the stuffing to show.)
-Scissors
-Stitch markers
-Tapestry needle
-Paper and pen or pencil for note taking
-A chopstick or blunt tweezers for helping stuff your project.
*If you are planning to purchase supplies at the shop before your class, make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Don’t forget to ask for your 10% discount on materials for your class!
**We will provide orange for beaks and feet and black for eyes. Bring colors you want for your bird and its swing. You can purchase the yarn colors shown in the pattern to make a mallard OR choose yellow for a chick, blue for a bluebird, etc. Please note that this yarn size is different from what the pattern calls for.
