Do you know how to crochet but struggle with understanding crochet patterns? Join us for this 2 hour class! We’ll cover how to decipher crochet patterns, how to discover great pattern designers, and how to avoid the awful AI ‘slop’ that is common in today’s online pattern marketplaces.
Note: This is a technique learning class, not a class where you will finish a project.
Prerequisites: This is not a class for beginning crochet students. You should be very comfortable with your crocheting and should be able to single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, increase, and decrease without instructor support.
Homework: Please download the pattern “Leaf Garland” by Little Conkers on Ravelry and print it to bring to class if you are able. (There will be copies available for those who do not have printer access, but the designer requests that each student download it whether they can print it or not.)
Please bring the following to class:
-Green worsted weight yarn (bright or light shades will be easier to see than dark ones)
-Crochet hook (3.75mm or 4mm)
-Scissors
-Stitch markers
-Paper and pen or pencil for note taking
Optional: bring a pattern that you’d like to make that you have questions about. If time allows, we can help you decipher it!
